FOCUS AND MISSION

Creating a reliable approach to a beneficial future only happens by following best practices at a foundational level. Safe environments depend on a number of different factors.

What are the needs?

Cascade Springs and Cascade Falls have already been contaminated underground by illegal resource extraction. Wells are being poisoned from affected groundwater. Cattle runoff has decimated the purity of the Cheyenne River and creeks that flow through communities. Water testing to determine safe sites to cultivate will be accompanied by monitored improvement of sites deemed too unsafe.

❋ Water contamination

Millions of tons of radioactive debris is buried beneath Edgemont, SD from discarded uranium mill tailings. Parts of the Badlands were used as a bombing range, along with unknown substances being sprayed during an indigenous hemp movement in the early 2000s. Exploitative cattle leases have decimated soil viability over swaths of reservation land. Our approach will identify levels of risk and appropriate solutions for affected areas.

❋ Soil safety

Food scarcity being an increasing issue necessitates development of culturally aligned solutions. Maintained buffalo herds are mostly privately operated and expensive. Paying victims of predatory cattle leases to let their land recover creates opportunities for buffalo herd collaboration.

❋ Calling the buffalo back

Accessible housing and fostering the development of relevant skillsets in others is a central motivation to our efforts. Documenting our actions and methods for education and enabling broader responsibility will create more efficient people, capable of responding effectively to a changing world.

❋ Ecovillages make volunteers

Conditions on many reservations can make life difficult. Many volunteers could have difficulty recovering after labor due to nutrition or transportation issues. Being able to effectively supplement those dedicating their time to build with nutrition and some compensation accelerates the example.

❋ Creating the example

By uploading all donations and expense receipts in a blockchain ledger, we can prove that 100% of donations are being applied toward materials or basic necessities to keep volunteers active.

❋ Accountability, trust, and proven allocation
Securing the safety and viability of reservation land in South Dakota creates an example that opens doors to everyone having more options on how we live.
